If you live in the New York area, you’ve more than likely seen the mug of Dr. Mehmet Oz mozying along on the side of a city bus. Having personally witnessed this ad about 1,000 times I gave in. I tuned in and checked out what the good doctor had to say (check out your local listings here).

Here’s  a clip from a recent episode:

It turned out that the Dr. Oz show was incredibly informative and relevant to issues that come u in everyday life. Whether it’s staying clear of germs at the supermarket or how to reduce the amount of gas you have, Dr. Oz seems to have all the answers. After being mesmerized by the show two afternoons in a row, I decided to get the skinny on this entertaining, and inspiring man.

Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon by trade and also a professor of Cardiac Surgery at Columbia University, was born in Cleveland in 1960. After making regular appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, and other CNN programming, Oprah’s Harpo Productions decided to film a daily talk show for the good doctor.

Dr. Oz has received many awards and accolades in his time as a physician:

  • Named Time Magazine’s 44th Most Influential Scientist and Thinker 2008
  • Honored by the New York Open Center [1]for his “outstanding research in writing and communication [and for] bridging Western and alternative/complementary medicine.” 2007
  • Listed in Doctors of the Year Hippocrates Magazine
  • Listed in Healers of the Millennium Healthy Living Magazine
  • Listed in Best Doctors of the Year New York Magazine
  • Listed in Castle Connolly Guide
  • Named Global Leader of Tomorrow at the 1999 World Economic Forum meeting
  • Named Turkish American of the Year 1996
  • Books for a Better America Award for Healing from the Heart, 1999
  • Robert E. Gross Research Scholarship from the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, 1994-1996
  • Research Award, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, 1991
  • Blakemore Research Awards, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons 1988-1991 (Via Wikipedia)

I strongly recommend this program to anyone interested in health, sexuality and fitness. It’s consistently fun, entertaining, educational and inspiring. Check out more with Dr. Oz at his website or follow him on Twitter.
